U.S. SENATE CAMPAIGN
Governor enters fray on al-Arian
The state's Republican governor and a Democratic Senate candidate appeared to have similar responses in dealing with a terrorist suspect.

Gov. Jeb Bush stares earnestly into the camera, flashes a quick smile and scolds Democratic Senate hopeful Betty Castor in a recent ad, saying she ''did not act'' against terrorist suspects when she ran a university.
Turns out, Bush didn't do much either as governor.
When asked Wednesday why he didn't call for a state investigation into the activities of a state university professor, Sami al-Arian, after he became governor, Bush echoed the same explanation Castor gave for years while she was president of the University of South Florida: The feds were handling it.
''I did not ask for FDLE
to get involved because the FBI was already involved,'' Bush said.
