Bush Braves Rain To Speak Before Ohio Union
From Ohio News Network:

http://onnnews.com/story.php?record=26404

Thousands of Ohio union members turned out in the rain Monday morning to hear President Bush speak.

Appearing before the International Union of Industrial Engineers’ Labor Day event in Richfield, Bush focused on the economy. Speaking in the rain, Bush said a strong American workforce directly impacts the nation’s economy.

“Things are getting better, but there are some things we’ve got to do to make sure the economy continues to grow,” Bush said.

A report issued Sunday says Ohio lost 185,000 jobs between March 2001 and March 2003. Hardest hit was Ohio’s manufacturing sector. According to the Ohio Manufacturers Association, the Buckeye State has the nation’s third largest manufacturing output. Ohio’s manufacturing sector provides more than 1 million jobs and an annual payroll of more than $45 billion.

1. Braves?
It struck me that the header would be this if Clinton had done the same thing:

"Clinton forces thousands of Union members to stand in rain"

2. There would've been follow-ups with people in the crowd that got sick....
"We wanted to go home, but President Clinton wouldn't stop talking. We were so wet and cold....It was like he didn't care about us."

... Clintonly late. Then he held up airplane traffic on the ground and in the air while he got a haircut on AF1.

22. Uh, Nolan Ryan couldn't pitch that one
the closest ballpark was right next door, the stage was a hundred yards or more from the pitcher's mound, and the closest a DUer was allowed to get was 2 miles away.

33. Kick that, CP
My thoughts when I saw the headline: how is it that we (la gente) are so weak and spineless that we would even let this pathetic excuse for a leader address a union on Labor Day - he should have gone out of there covered in tomatoes and cream pies.

(Note to HSA snoops:) tomatoes and cream pies would not have hurt your precious leader, and in no way do I advocate violence against anyone, including the pathetic puppet, Mr. Salty, whom you worship.

10. They used a tight shot of a crowd with Bush as the
backdrop.

From that shot, it looked like one of the corners of 303 & 176. Maybe the biggest segment.

11. I didn't get to see it
..wandering in and out from my painting project, but what I did see and didn't understand, was the "wild cheers" every time the @#%&#* completed a sentence.

...I also caught that part where he said he is "optomistic" and tried to smile (optomisically)...the crowd cheered and I :puke:

where did they dig up those supporters?

painting trim is much more fun.........

All far as the crowd creering for junior --well it's kind of like canned laughter on those sitcoms ya know? Totally meaningless and as insipid.

edited: for the sake of those cheering throngs of people that love junior. LOL!!

12. A hand picked crowd....................
and those that weren't were threatened with reprisals at their respective workplaces would be my guess. The people of Ohio aren't that dumb to stand out in the rain to hear Chimpy McCokespoon lie to them about how great things are. Yet the media gives Whistleass another pass, after all, they might not be invited to the next barbeque at the pig farm if they speak out.

13. Cure for the slowing manufacturing economy?????
<snip>
"One of the main causes for the slowing manufacturing economy, Bush said, was production moving overseas. Bush said he intends to send strong signals overseas for fair trade for American companies."
<snip>

WTF is he going to do, say "Buy from us or we'll bomb the crap out of you?"

Dubya, all your corporate buds are sending all the manufacturing jobs overseas. If we don't make anything here, WE CAN'T SELL IT YOU FUCKING IDIOT!!!!!!!!

18. Bush sounds like he just learned ...
The word "Manufacturing". He used it about four times in the one minute clip I heard of him speaking.

Its a five-sylable word and it wasn't easy for him to spit it out, but I'm proud of him for adding such a large, complcated word to his vocabulary. Karl Rove probably thinks it makes Bush look smart...like he understands something about manufacturing if he can actually use the word in a sentence. What a maroon.

Democrats should run ads showing Bush speaking in front of a backdrop saying JOBLOSS RECOVERY.

30. Amusing note from the NBC affiliate
the news reader was telling the viewing audience that people came from miles around and all over the state to get to see Bush.

A minute or two later, one of the DittoTwins (middle-finger-morality lady and her husband, the Rex family) were claiming that there were probably no citizens of Richfield at the protest, and that the protesters were probably bused in. Funny, I was one of the Richfield citizens. The only bus that our people came in were from the Postal workers union.

I guess that, if your "supporters" have to park far enough away that they have to be "shuttled" (read: bused) from the parking lot to the event, you can sneak in a few extra busloads of out-of-towners, too.

By these people's logic, anybody who showed up to the Bush orgy had to live solely in one of the two Richfields (they've seperated into Village and Township). Wonder how many would have shown up.
