Pentagon lacks manpower to keep current occupation force in Iraq past March without getting help from other nations or spending tens of billions to vastly expand size of the Army, a new congressional study shows.

1. Yup
Again, they are already preparing to begin calling up more reservists, and in a few month preparing to reinstitute the draft.

6. But you don't get it. . .
The Iraqis will be so glad to see THESE soldiers leave that they'll greet the next round with flowers! Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket.

I will drive my son to Canada myself.

8. manpower
If the Vietnam war had not ended when it did my son would have been called up. I told him if it happened, pack his bag and throw it in the car; we were going to Canada. Now I will do the same thing for my grandson. No Whistle Ass is going to have my grandson for fodder in Iraq.

3. Huh?
Didn't Bush's "intelligence" forsee this? (Much as they didn't foresee the looting, rioting, killing of our troops by the people we've invaded, the guarding of Iraq's nuclear facilities while we made sure the oil wells were safe, and so on?)

Expect the US budget to go that much further down the shitter. Nobody in their right mind will want to help the USA out, and if they do then Bushit* should be so fucking damn grateful, but won't because God told him not to be humble... :eyes:

Bush* should send his own sorry ass and do some of the fighting himself. He wanted the invasion and his vengeance satisfied.

4. The Real Deal
Soldiers get cranky when they are in 120 degree temps for over a year. So, if ya keep them out there a year, you need to rotate them out. But then, if you are stretched out, ya have a hard time getting enough troops who aren't previously engaged in places like Korea to replace them.

Bush will seriously have several options. Drop troop strength by a massive number, withdraw from Korea, etc, call up every living person in the National Guard, or the draft. He has got a Texas sized mess on his hands if the country isn't "pacified" in time. His last option will be to extend the tours there, and extend people past their exit date. For example, ya sign up in March 2000, for a 4 year hitch, come March 2004, you are involuntarily extended, to spend another 6-12 months in Iraq. Wanna guess how morale will be at that point?

or spending tens of billions to vastly expand size of the Army

How soon before we start hearing * bellyaching for more money to be dumped into the military industrial complex?
