Rserve, Guard Units Hit Hard

SACRAMENTO — You might think Raymond Anthony had already done enough for his country. During four tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps, Anthony was wounded six times.

He bears a long bayonet scar on his face. He was shot in the chest with an enemy AK-47, strafed by jets and blown out of a landing craft by North Vietnamese artillery.

But the 57-year-old state office worker, who joined a California National Guard unit here eight years ago so he could qualify for military retirement pay, was severely wounded again in July when a rocket-propelled grenade hit his Humvee during a night patrol outside Baghdad.

1. One weekend a month my ass!

One of my lab techs, who is completely out of the service, recently received a letter explaining how they were re-activating his file. IOW...this is someone who served his time who they are now calling back to do more time. Not like me, who still has a reserve comission.

2. I don't know whether this guy is extremely lucky, or extremely unlucky!

I mean he has been wounded in combat a total of seven times in his military career, which is rather unlucky if you think about it, but HE HAS SURVIVED EVERY TIME! I mean how lucky can you get?

This guy is a bullet and bomb magnet, yet he seems to be indestructable!

Give the poor bastard his pension and let him rest... he needs it.

like my son..are having stop locks put on their leaving...my son is furious..hes been in for 6 years..he says the hell with this..he isnt staying and he will do everything he can to get OUT.

5. Stop Locks I'm curious

I hear about this here - yet see little on the media. How many are getting these stop locks? Is it just in specialities and if so what specialities? Regular army? Guard and Reserve?

7. They wont let him leave the Natl Guard even tho

he has served his time. Thats a stop lock...they need bodies to die for PNAC, you know.

6. This is why there won't be a draft any time soon.

Globalsecurity.org says we have only 17 active combat divisions, but we have enough for 37 divisions of reservists and guardsmen. A draft would require a major effort and tremendous bad press for the Fuehrer. Instead, they need only stick it to a few at a time of those who've already served. Maybe the Reich is hoping no one will notice if they shanghai these guys. If that's their plan, it might be working.
