Man Charged in Cheney Threat Denied Bond

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A man charged with threatening the life of Vice President Dick Cheney at a campaign rally was denied bond Wednesday.

Homer O. Shoup Jr., 51, of Wayland is accused of calling a 911 dispatcher on Friday, saying he had turned his van into a bomb and planned to try to kill Cheney by crashing it into the Lansing-area venue where the vice president was to speak that day.
