KBR worker killed in Iraq
A civilian affiliated with Houston-based Halliburton has been shot and killed today in Iraq.

Halliburton spokeswoman Wendy Hall says the victim worked for subsidiary Kellogg Brown and Root.

Halliburton, which is the former company of Vice President Dick Cheney, has major contracts for reconstruction in Iraq and Afghanistan.

2. Well, well, well...I was wondering when this would occur
Now what will they do? Hell, troops can die everyday...but, hell it's expected, right? <smirk> But, a Halliburton employee...oh, that is so much more important...it means OIL and their future.

This is very interesting. How many more, before they bail?

Or, did the thugs suspect this may happen and that is why we suddenly hear about the UN?

Liars, thugs...

4. I think it's the second or third one
I'm sure that the managers at Haliburton have a certain amount of personnel 'attrition' figured into the contracts at this point.

Hell, Haliburton probably carries a life insurance policy on all their field employees -- with the corporation as the beneficiary...

5. What insurer in his right mind
would underwrite such a policy in a war zone? Yet, I know you are right, and that the employees would not go without having more than adequate insurance for their families.

If they have insurance, Halliburton has it for themselves as well. Afterall, they'll have to dangle a big carrot to convince some other greedy shmuck to take his place.

7. I would add Murderers to that list!
I hope if the UN comes in that they do it their way now that they are back being relevant again! :kick:

3. We barely hear about the military deaths
much less the civilian contractors, ngo's, etc., who get hit. I wonder how many Americans are actually being killed over there.

10. Same here, Caldesi.
I was wondering when this was going to happen. This should be very ineresting to follow. I personally believe that the deaths of contractual employees will be treated very differently that soldiers perishing in battle.

There are insurance issues (this will cost Halliburton, Bechtel, Kellogg Root & Brown huge insurance premiums). Can they even be insured?

Then there are image issues. Do you want to go work for these companies, knowing that you might not come back to celebrate your daughter's 5th birthday? Do you want to work for these companies WHETHER OR NOT YOUR LIFE IS AT RISK? I'd think twice about it.

Personnel issues. These are highly trained, highly paid employees. Probably a lot of engineers, who are in high demand elsewhere. Imagine the cost to replace these people, and compensate the families for the loss.

Contract issues. These are the very people who are going to complete the shady backroom deals pushed through by Cheney.

Dare I say it ---- (hesitates) they could be seen as more valuable than the soldiers who are killed. Soldiers are counted in numbers.

11. THE U. S. TAXPAYER WILL TAKE CARE OF THE POOR WORKER AND HIS FAMILY
Don't worry all of this----it is figured in the "CONTRACT".

This company built Cam Ranh Bay, the camps in Bosnia and Kosovo.

They know how to do business, there are 200 potential new volunteers for every "civilian" killed, who works for these thugs and hoodlums.
