Helpers to Get Seat at Table, Rumsfeld Says

Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Wednesday night that countries that contribute troops and financial support to American-led military and reconstruction operations in Iraq could count on a seat at the table in decision making about the mission there.

In laying out American goals for new troop contributions, Mr. Rumsfeld said the United States hoped to persuade other countries to provide about 20,000 troops to supplement a force in Iraq and Kuwait that currently numbers only 21,000 non- American forces.

Mr. Rumsfeld insisted that the administration's decision to encourage the United Nations to authorize a military force in Iraq in the hope of prompting other countries to contribute to the operation did not reflect a change of strategy. He noted that 29 countries other than the United States were already taking part, and said it was wrong for critics to portray the operation as having been a unilateral one.

But the fresh signal of willingness to share some decision making appeared to reflect a new flexibility on the part of the administration, although it did not appear to depart from the administration's insistence that final authority in Iraq remain in American hands. ---

32. THE TABLE AT WHICH YOU CAN EAT LIKE A PIG
And later admire your Porcine figure, after belching loudly.

Bring a large wallet, a purse or one of those brown bags with handles on it, in which to cart off your loot.

A Swiss account for a direct wire transfer works good too !!!!!

4. Yes, you, too, can have a seat at the table
That would be the table in a room down the hall, where you can sit with everyone else the mighty bushco doesn't care to listen to. Just send a few thousand of your country's citizens to die, & your seat will be reserved./sarcasm

10. Translation
Translation from bull**** to plain english = we are losing our asses on this deal. The CIA has just informed us there is no way we can win. We got in over our heads.

Now we would like to make a deal with you. Ante up, put your chips on the table. Show us your $$$ and we'll let you know what we will be offering. This country is ours, fair and square.

We know we're acting like hard-asses, but that's just part of the game. We don't want you to realize how desperate we really are; don't look at the sweat rings under our armpits.

care to make a deal?

Of course, American currency is collapsing, but don't let that worry you.

And the Arabs keep blowing up the oil and anything else they don't like. But don't let that worry you.

Come and die subservient to the Americans! Who can resist such an offer?

18. We need those countries WAY more than they need us. If I were
the head of one of those countries, I'd tell us "No Deal unless the UN is in control and the country is open to all countries for business opportunities. If you don't like it, Fuck Off!"

Bush, Rumsfeld and the neocons got us into this mess. They will eat a lot of French crow, cheese and wine before this is over.

...and that the Bushies snubbed the UN and other countries in disagreement with their 'preemptive strike' doctrine.

- Now the Bushies are saying that it wasn't unilateral? It means nothing that they were able to intimidate/bribe a few countries into signing on to this madness.

- The Bushies need to apologize and admit they were wrong to ignore the opinions and warnings of the majority and then illegally invade Iraq.

And she said
We are all just prisoners here
Of our own device
And in the master's chambers
They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives
But they just can't kill the beast
Last thing I remember
I was running for the door
I had to find the passage back to the place I was before
Relax said the nightman

29. I can see France and Germany running as we type...
Essentially, Rummy is saying that he is willing to forgive the French and German governments for being accurate. They are now perfectly able to buy a seat at the lying liar table, with the lives of the citizens they didn't want to send to an unjust war in the first place.

The only way that countries will send more troops is if they recognize the quagmire that Bush has created.

30. That is the most arrogant statement I've heard......!!!!!!
"A seat at the table"....I heard Powell use the same statement yesterday and felt like smashing the TV. So this is the current spin coming out of this despicable administration. I can't honestly see how any country would want to help the US on Iraq or any other issue with these as..... in charge. These people just make me furious!!!!
