U.S. lawmakers see broad support for Iraq funds
WASHINGTON, Sept 4 (Reuters)

Republicans and Democrats in Congress said on Thursday President George W. Bush will get all of the tens of billions of dollars he is expected to seek for Iraq, but Democrats said they would first try to force him to enlist more international help.

As the White House prepares an emergency funding request expected to be in the neighborhood of $65 billion, Republican leaders who control Congress said they would deliver the money.

"I think it's very important that we didn't ask questions how long it would take and how much it would cost to win World War Two," said House Majority leader Tom DeLay, a Texas Republican. "This is the war on terror and whatever it costs we're going to pay."

DeLay and other top Republicans said the White House has not pinned down a figure for the emergency spending bill, and the White House said it still was assessing the needs. But some Democrats said they thought the $65 billion estimate was conservative. ---

1. Please don't compare this to World War Two....!!!!!!!!!
This is not even close to WWII. This was an invasion of another country and now we're in over our heads paying off other countries to help try and bail us out. WWII....give me a break..!!!!!!

2. So, apparently, it's no longer my money
Just "whatever it takes" as long as Lil George says it's going to fight terror, Bugface will hold open the Treasury door while the pigs roll their wheelbarrows in and out.

I see the funding request has inched up overnight from "at least $60 billion" to a firm "$65 billion." I wonder what the extra five billion is for? Or who?
