1. I never get a "warning"
Do you think it might have been his status as a Republican "lawmaker" that had the cop decide to let him be a "lawbreaker" with only a warning?

"What will I tell the kids?"

2. My guess is that Janklow received many "warnings"
After all, he was Govenor of that state for 4 terms. What cop would give him a ticket?

3. I hope at least he's lost his license
no one says but you'd hope the law still works, even
in South Dakota...

4. I hope the family of the deceased
sues the ever-lovin' shit out of the states of SD and Nebraska. This man was let loose on the roads because of his political profile. If there is a God, she will let justice prevail.

5. janklow *jokes* about his speeding record
Edited on Fri Sep-05-03 01:02 AM by disgruntella
Real role model for the "compassionate conservative" crowd:

"State court records show that Janklow, a Republican and four-term governor who was elected to Congress last fall, got 12 speeding tickets in 11 S.D. counties from 1990 to 1994 and paid more than $1,000 in fines. He often drove 15 to 20 miles per hour faster than speed limits and once was caught going 90 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone."
-snip-
In his 1999 State of the State address, Janklow said he was going to present legislation calling for a minimum 30-day jail term for anyone found with drugs. Explaining the reasoning, he said: "Bill Janklow speeds when he drives -- shouldn't, but he does. When he gets the ticket he pays it, but if someone told me I was going to jail for two days for speeding, my driving habits would change. I can pay the ticket, but I don't want to go to jail. It is that simple, and we've tried everything else."

6. Speeding is OK, smoking pot on the couch is not.
I seeeee.... Do Americans even know what logic smells like?

7. If they did, they'd love the smell of it.
Because they'd understand why the couch is far more enjoyable than dangerously speeding down the road... ;)

8. i don't understand the hysteria about the 'speeding'
for example, let's examine what component of the following behavior is dangerous:

Authorities said Janklow ran a stop sign at 71 mph in a 55 mph zone.

71 mph in a 55 mph zone? not really

ran a stop sign? very!!
