The role of Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon in the naming of Dr David Kelly has come back under the spotlight after details emerged of meeting at which the Ministry of Defence's strategy was discussed.
Mr Hoon's special adviser, Richard Taylor, revealed the meeting - attended by the defence secretary - during his evidence to the inquiry on Thursday.
Describing it as a "routine meeting" to discuss media issues, he said it was also attended by Ministry of Defence (MoD) head of news Pamela Teare and Mr Hoon's principal private secretary Peter Watkins.
Mr Taylor said such meetings were usually held daily to look at the day's press cuttings and assess what response the MoD should make.
