US soldier hurt in Mosul grenade attack: witnesses
A man on a motorbike lobbed a grenade at a US military vehicle, wounding one American soldier in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, witnesses told AFP.

The attack took place at 10:45 am (local time) on a street in the university district, they said.

The military vehicle caught fire and the driver, apparently the sole occupant, was hurt as the motorbike rider escaped.

Omar Ahmed, whose shop overlooks the site of the attack, said Albanian soldiers who have joined the US-led coalition, arrived on the scene and helped the wounded man.

Other witnesses said more than one soldier had been hurt and taken away in two ambulances.

The university area was immediately closed off to traffic.

if only they would accept the terms Dumbya demanded for his own rescue

When a friend of mine was in grad school for psychology, she took a course on the psychopathology of addiction. The prof opened with a little story that he said captured the essence of what addictive behavior is like:

One freezing winter night, a cop on his beat came upon a drunken man huddled asleep in the doorway of an apartment building. Realising the man would freeze if he left him there, the cop prodded him awake.

'Hey buddy, you can't sleep here, you'll freeze to death. Where do you live, I'll get a squad to take you home.'

'I live here. I f'rgot m'key.'

'Well isn't there anyone at home, did you try ringing the bell?'

'Yuh, th're home, but th' didn' ansher.'

'But you gotta get indoors, you'll die out here. You gotta keep ringing til they answer!'

'Ah fuck'm, let'm wait!'

Sound like anyone we know?

2. Surprised the US is not bombing buildings like Israel is.
Would not be surprised to hear the US adopt a policy where if one of our vehicles is disabled through an RPG or regular grenade attack then the US bombs a building in the near vicinity. Kind of a tit for tat?
<sarcasm off/>

5. 1 vehicle with 1 soldier, only? Seems not a credible story or a credible
military leadership.

'OK boys, go out their and get em. Bring em on! And do it by yourself.'

If true, people should be fired!
