Feds shouldn’t be allowed to keep unclaimed bonds
I had no idea about this--interesting

http://www.herald-dispatch.com/2005/February/02/OPlist2.htm

State Treasurer John Perdue believes he knows where there is about $92 million just waiting for tens of thousands of West Virginians to claim it.

But there’s a catch: Uncle Sam won’t even allow Perdue to tell Mountain State residents about the money.

It is in the form of federal savings bonds, perhaps as many as 230,000 of them bought by West Virginians between 1941 and 1974, but never cashed in after they reached maturity and stopped earning interest.

1. The government has no claim to those bonds
They should be held in trust ad infinitum until claimed by their legal owner or heir.
