For those of us who were knocked out by former Marine Lt. Bobby Mueller on "Nightline," here's an e-mail I got in response to my "You Rock, Bobby!" e-mail.
******
Thank you for your kind words about Bobby Muller's appearance on Nightline last week. He was very happy to hear from you and thanks you for your support.
I thought you would like to know that Bobby will be appearing tonight on PBS's Newshour with Jim Lehrer (check your local listings
http://www.pbs.org/tvschedules/ ) to talk about what the US should do next in Iraq. This promises to be a lively discussion which Bobby will keep real. I would also like to invite you to join Bobby's latest endeavor Alliance for Security at
http://www.allianceforsecurity.org/join to learn more about how you can help Bobby in continuing to ask the hard questions about US foreign policy. You can read Bobby's latest email to Alliance for Security members below.
Best regards,
Marissa

SUBJECT: Before the State of the Union...
Dear Friend,
Tonight many of you will be watching President Bush's State of the Union address, keenly listening for a description of his plans for US operations in Iraq now that elections have taken place.
I, too, am very interested in what he has to say but also, like you, have my own ideas about what should happen next. I will be on PBS's Newshour with Jim Lehrer tonight discussing what I think the US should do in Iraq now. Check you local listings for show times here:
http://www.pbs.org/tvschedules/ Please watch the Newshour and join the discussion on our blog, This Is Rumor Control (
http://www.thisisrumorcontrol.org) about what the U.S. should do in Iraq.
As I have said before, I can't help having the eerie feeling that we have been here before. Take a look at this headline from The New York Times in 1967: "U.S. ENCOURAGED BY VIETNAM VOTE: Officials Cite 83% Turnout Despite Vietcong Terror." You only need to substitute Iraq for Vietnam in the rest of the article (found here
http://wwww.thisisrumorcontrol.org/node/1567 ) to really see how we have already been down this road and have failed to learn the lessons from the past.
I hope that you will encourage your friends and family to watch the Newshour and join our online discussion.
It is still vital that we continue what we started last fall and keep asking the hard questions about US actions in Iraq and around the world. An open discussion of ideas is the foundation of our democracy and I thank you for helping me keep that alive.
Sincerely,
Bobby
