Reid blasts Bush over RNC document
Minority leader: President's calls for unity appear 'false'
http://www.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/02/08/reid.bush/index.html

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Angered by Republican criticism, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid on Tuesday suggested President Bush's calls for unity are proving "absolutely false."

"While President Bush and Republicans in Congress are working to win the war on terror, preserve Social Security and lower health care costs, Harry Reid and his taxpayer-funded war room are focused on obstruction," RNC communications director Brian Jones says in the document.

Democratic sources said Bush told Reid at the dinner that he knew nothing about the RNC mailing and distribution of the material.

Reid, however, was unpersuaded, saying that it was his understanding that the RNC is "controlled by George Bush."
"They're not going to frighten me. You know, they call me an obstructionist -- they're destructionists."

2. Me, too
I'm almost GLAD this came up, to show what a fighter he really is. Repugs can make jokes about his appearance all they want -- I have a feeling he's going to be an effective thorn in their backside for the next few years.

3. Wow
That Reid has turned out to be an old warhorse for the Dems.

Who'da thunkit... It almost makes me glad that Daschle lost, except that Thune is such a rightwing fundie.

6. Jumpin' on the Reid bandwagon
The guy continues to impress me. Could it be we've got a leader in the Senate with - *quiver* - cojones??

I don't miss Tom Daschle's conciliatory attitude toward Repubs. He may have come on strong at the end against Thune but it was too little, too late. As Democrats, we need to learn the lessons of the past 40 years and start fighting like pissed off roosters at the slightest provocation.

If they won't respect us, they can damn well learn to fear us.
