Treasury's Role in Illicit Iraq Oil Sales Cited (February 17, 2005)

The US Treasury Department allowed two companies to export Iraqi oil to Jordan in violation of Oil-for-Food sanctions during the immediate period before the US-led invasion in 2003. A representative of one of the companies involved said the decision to bypass sanctions had the "full endorsement of both the executive and legislative branches of the United States."
