Lieberman's Dangerous Game
http://www.progressive.org/webex03/wx091003.html

I've now watched two Democratic debates in the last week, and one question sticks in my mind: Why is Joe Lieberman doing Karl Rove's work?

At the first debate last Thursday, Lieberman said, if Dean is elected, "The Bush recession will be followed by the Dean depression."

And at the debate this Tuesday, Lieberman went after Dean for being insufficiently ardent in his support for Israel.

<snip>

Karl Rove must have looked on at both debates with glee, cheering at every one of Lieberman's wild swings.

For if Dean eventually wins the nomination, all Rove needs to do is roll the tape of Lieberman attacking the Democratic nominee on these issues, and Rove and Bush will be well on their way to victory.

because Dean has something he doesn't have, and never will have.

I don't think Lieberman has that much credibility now, and any he does have is sinking fast. (just like chimpy's approval rating!)

On edit - hey, I'm in the 700 club now! I just decided I like Lieberman now. Please disregard all my previous posts. lol

i doubt it'll help them much. if the voters don't buy Bush saying those things, they won't buy Lieberman saying them either.

7. Tonight's rightwing pundits were saying the same thing, except...
they think it will help the Republicans in the end.

4. Liberman=idiot
If it weren't for the fact that we need as many Democrat Senators as we can get, I'd move to have him thrown out of the party. What in the hell is he thinking??? I think he's a republican spy!

Luckily, so far his attacks have been ineffective.

5. I think there is a good possiblity Lieberman or his
followers(advisors) are working for Bush 2004 quite frankly. Many who have defended him on TV admit they will ultimately vote for Bush. I wouldn't be surprised if his pundits at the New Republic endorse and vote for Bush.

8. All Lieberman has shown is the kind of petty, worthless little shit he is
I cannot imagine what Gore must have been smoking when he picked the garden gnome from Connecticut as his running mate.

What is really scary is that Lieberman is following a plausible strategy, one in which he could become the Democratic nominee as Dean knocks Kerry out, only to self-destruct later on. There will be no nationally recognized candidate once that happens, except for Lieberman.
