Pravda Spanks Mr. Bush
When Bush wagged his finger, so to speak, at Russia for falling beind in Democratization, Pravda's editorial page spanked him soundly. Here are some tidbits:
"For the information of this President, who parachutes into Europe once every two years because he dare not step off an aircraft in most countries outside his own, Russia has always been part of Europe, while the USA has not. Therefore what authority does this citizen of the USA have in speaking about European affairs?"

"The rule of law depends on the respect for the legal mechanisms constituted by the collective will of the international community. The rule of law is neither about dropping cluster bombs on civilians nor about sending record numbers of people to their deaths, like a Nazi concentration camp. The rule of law is not about torturing prisoners at Abu Ghraib or Guantanamo or Baghram."

"George W. Bush had better shut up and watch what he says."

6. Here is another good line
"Did the Russian Federation break every rule in the book by breaching the Geneva Convention and UN Charter, launching an illegal war, based on barefaced lies, slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent people in a sovereign nation? No."

The whole damned world is watching us. Hopefully we will be able to distance ourselves from that war monger who stole another presidency.

10. Ah, what to say? Krivda's always had a strange take
on history and culture.

And I'm sure a lot of Slavophiles would have disagreed with him--after all, the debate was precisely over whether Russia was part of Europe or not. The rulers of the Golden Horde probably didn't acknowledge the boundaries. And, well, the author of "The Scythians" had serious doubts.

12. It is funny listening to the "Fox News" for the Tyrant Putin upbraid
the Tyrant Bush.

Democracy? President Putin was elected by a democratic process, was he not? Rule of law? Did the Russian Federation break every rule in the book by breaching the Geneva Convention and UN Charter, launching an illegal war, based on barefaced lies, slaughtering tens of thousands of innocent people in a sovereign nation? No.

Which is sort of true, except that Bush*, too was "elected" the same way Comrade Putin was "elected", with the help of a One-Party State-Controlled (ours naturally, is controlled through other methods than the Putinists use, but the result is the same) Media, as well as bullying and intimidation of the Opposition in ways both subtle and direct.

Considering it is very possible that Bush and putin and the Modern Hitler and Stalin, listening to Putin's "Fox News" dress down Bush is like listening to Stalin dress down Hitler for his atrocities.

14. Ironic that there is more Pravda (Truth) in Pravda these days
than in the US mainstream media.
