"Governor Goodhair" Gets his Reward

That's Texas Governor Rick Perry for those of you not familiar with the nickname Molly Ivins invented. (As a Southern lady, I think she wanted to find SOMETHING nice to say....)

"With a quorum in place in the Legislature, Gov. Rick Perry plans to leave the state next week to raise money for his re-election campaign and speak to conservative groups about his legislative work.

"He is scheduled to be in Washington on Tuesday night through Thursday attending two fund-raisers. Perry also is set to address the Americans for Tax Reform and the Heritage Foundation, conservative groups that promote limited government....The Heritage Foundation said Perry will speak about his 'historical successes' during the session, including passing a budget in the face of a $10 billion deficit without increasing taxes.

"But Molly Beth Malcolm, chairwoman of the Texas Democratic Party, said Perry is visiting Washington to 'cash in on his power grab.'"
