Breslin: They Lied and Many Soldiers Died
http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-nybres233465724sep23,0,5555679.column?coll=ny-news-columnists

George Bush won't mention the names below in today's speech, nor will your gullible news and television people - the Pekinese of the Press.

Therefore we print promptly and thus prominently the names of American soldiers killed in Iraq and reported from Sept. 9 to Sept. 19:

Breslin posts the names, ages, how killed and a short background of soldier.

<snip>

George Bush told lies and they died.

First, your government lied to ensure Bush's re-election. Who votes against a president in time of war? And even better, you get oil with the winning election.

So Bush lied to you. Not misstatements. Lies. He and his people threw away their honor and consciences to lie to the people they had sworn to protect.

1. Landstuhl Army Hospital was full last July
Casualties surely have increased since then.

Here's a dated article, worth a read. W/luck, the reporter will give us an update soon.

LANDSTUHL, Germany — Landstuhl Regional Medical Center is receiving more than twice the number of patients from Operation Iraqi Freedom that it did during the major combat phase of the war.

An average of 48 patients a day were being treated last week, compared with 22 patients a day in March, said Col. David Rubenstein, who relinquished command of the hospital last week for a new post.

<snip>

As troops entered Baghdad, the hospital received an average of 24 patients a day. By the end of May, an average of 27 patients a day arrived.

In June, about 31 patients a day arrived at the hospital and in the first eight days of July, 40 patients a day arrived, Rubenstein said.

“There are still soldiers with some pretty horrendous wounds, as well as a lot of disease and nonbattle injuries,” Rubenstein said.

2. WTG Jimmy
I wonder who is going to be the Walter Cronkite of this war. Who is going to stand up among Peter, Dan, Tom and say that we have been lied to, and people are dying. American soldiers, Iraqi civilians are dying, and it is all based on lies.

I know they are worried about sponsors and their fat contracts, but I hope they remembered why they became newsmen in the first place and just level with the vast audience of people who trust them.

3. Big Funeral
What does Rove intend doing about Bush not attending
funerals of those who died in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Do one big funeral on an aircraft carrier?
