Ahh who cares. It would be well worth watching Clinton taking Bush to the woodshed, like he did his father.

Remember, Clinton's approval rating (while being impeached) is almost twice that of Mr "ManDates" current rating.

7. This is not new

The resolution has been in Congress since early 2001 (as I recall). It was introduced twice: once with only one sponsor, once with eight (I think--several of which were Democrats). The resolution has been stuck inthe judiciary committee ever since. Also, it takes more than a Republican Congress to amend the constitution. It must be ratified by 3/4 of the states. Not easy to amend the Constitution. It is not likely that this would happen before Bush is out of office... if it happens at all.

Still wise to keep an eye on it, though.

Every time the Republicans try something like this, we should be happy. Their arrogance and hatred for America only angers and energized the anti-bush crowd, which is quickly turning into an anti-Republican population.

In 2006 we should have a huge turnout for the elections. If they are truly capable of stealing elections, then this doesn't matter anyways. But if not, we could really make a statement.

I see something like this as a blessing.

13. Clinton's Idea

Eighteen months ago Bill Clinton suggested the 22nd Amendment should be repealed. He would not be able to run again because he was President under the old Constitutional laws. When the Republican Congress changed it when Truman was President, the change did not apply to Truman and he could have run for a third term if he wanted. No former President today could run if the 22nd were Repealed. Also, as far as the states going for it, if the neo-cons still own and operate the voting machines it would pass the states.

The proposed amendment before Congress simply states that the 22nd Article of Amendment is repealed. No exceptions. If they could ratify it by 2008, Bush could run for a third term.

It takes a two-thirds vote of each House of Congress to send an amendment off to the states for ratification.

It's not going to happen. This is something I think we can depend on enough Democrats hanging together in order to shoot it down.
