Bush goes to UN while 74 vote to not fund the UN. I did not know this.

I admit I am dense on this. I just saw our leader go hat in hand to the UN while his party loyal voted to defund it? Am I not bright, or is this plain stupid.

SNIP...."Congressman Ron Paul of Texas introduced an amendment to H.R. 1950, the Foreign Relations Authorization Act, which includes funding of the United Nations and its agencies. The amendment would have stopped all of our nation's funding of the United Nations.

The amendment failed to pass, but the significance is that the patient, gradual education program of The John Birch Society has reached the halls of Congress. No fewer than 74 informed and courageous U.S. representatives voted for the amendment. Among these were eight Florida representatives....."

2. I don't know him. This was not about my liking him. This is about UN.

I was quoting from a letter to the editor. I was not expressing my opinion other than it was ironic that Bush was going to the UN for help while 7 Florida Republicans voted to stop funding it.

I am not that familiar with Ron Paul, and I did not say he was a Bush supporter. The LTTE mentioned his bill, I quote the LTTE. That is all.

Make sure you send your sons and daughters there too.

They can take the place of soldiers there who know that we need a multi-lateral respect for other democracies.

Especially gratifying is that the 12th district Congressman Adam Putnam voted for it. I commend Rep. Putnam for his understanding and courage to vote against the U.N. threat to our republic and our children's future freedoms.

Hopefully, more patience and education of the voting public will give others the understanding and courage to cast such a vote, so as to assure, in the words of the subhead on The John Birch Societyaffiliated bi-weekly magazine "The New American," "That Freedom Shall not Perish."

5. I just called Putnam's office.

I asked if this were true (silly question, I knew it was). The aide said yes. I mentioned that I remembered a certain guy in the WH going to them to ask for help.

I asked why he would do that. I did not get an answer.

Yes, I knew it was a letter to the editor. I am wondering if she were perhaps not quite serious? My first reading was I thought she was kidding, not even this area is this far gone. Then I wondered if she were serious.

I have not heard of that group in years, and I had no knowledge of their contempt for the UN.....I never paid attention.

8. There are almost weekly letters to the editor...

of my hometown paper, espousing the US get out of the UN... claiming they have a goal to 1) disarm all Americans, 2)replace the ten commandments, or 3)are flying black helicopters over head all in an effort to take over the US.

I have just never heard all this. Today's letter was the first I had seen on this.
