Matthew Rothschild: 'The Bush dam breaks'
By Matthew Rothschild, The Progressive

The Bush dam is beginning to crumble. The dam that defied opposition to the Iraq War. The dam that kept Republicans from coming to their senses on Social Security. The dam that held back critics of the USA Patriot Act. It's no longer holding.

Bush's popularity is in the low forties, and may get to the freezing point soon.

And so his ability to keep getting away with "disassembling," as he would put it, is being washed away.

=snip=

Our echo chamber is getting louder and louder, and we're finally waking up the neighbors.

6. I like "freezing point" but
I'm holding out for "absolute zero" for this reprobate - the slowest point of oscillation at a molecular level. I'm hoping that time may be near.

9. I hope his approval ratings stay where they are for now...
I hope they don't get any lower. I fear he may try to pull something funny if they do.

10. yup, we will either get attacked (mihop) or we
will attack iran. i predict that the plane that crashed today will be blamed on iran and that will be the impetus for shrub to declare war.

11. Bush would never attack Iran. They can defend themselves. But
he could very well attack Lebanon or some country like that which would be defenseless. My money's on an invasion of Lebanon before his term is out.

13. My money's on an air war against Iran
but my second guess would be Syria.

As regards Iran, I think they may be delusional enough to think they could pull it off.

15. Agree - or an additional provocation will do it-they don't have
any more political time left to pull this off.

Karl is whipping up the 9-11 emotion - and when Karl ventures out of the Open Ward, you know they want to roll out something big.

16. yeah but man, is it coming off as increasingly desperate or what?
I'm not sure even the idiots who voted for bush twice could see the attacking Iran as a good idea at this point
