Soon 2,000 American soldiers will be dead from a result of executing the handsomely titled Operation Iraqi Freedom. Some of those that are split open and maimed by explosive devices hidden in trees do not receive purple hearts, and are kept off the “combat casualty list” because it’s politically convenient. You can multiply our dead soldiers 20 or 30 times, who knows, and you have the number of Iraqi dead: men, women and children. Our soldiers have armored vehicles and are paid far more than the few hundred dollars a month the Iraqi security forces receive for getting slaughtered daily, but the fact that our military is now data-mining high school students through the private sector and offering significantly larger cash signing bonuses for enlistees is predictable. Four car bombs in 15 minutes this morning in Baghdad. Those that would even consider serving in that cruel nightmare are now less likely to deny that Iraqis themselves can only feel a growing fury at the Americans and foreign investors stationed in the Green Zone’s comparative security. The latest recruitment ploy on TV was much more offensive and sickening than the last. It shows a black mother struggling to support her son who decides he will fight in the war on terror, and the punch-line is, “(Parents, Mothers) Help Them Find Their Strength.” The carnage there is random and absolutely terrifying, even though the liberated are dying at a much higher rate.
