Pitt: Jeb Bush's shameful vendetta
http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/oped/bal-op.newpitts26jun26,1,3626705.story?coll=bal-oped-headlines

Malcolm X used to speak of the need to get freedom "by any means necessary." Apparently, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush feels the same about the need to get Michael Schiavo.
Mr. Bush directed the state's attorney to open an investigation into whether Mr. Schiavo delayed in calling paramedics when he found his wife, Terri, passed out in their bathroom before sunrise on Feb. 25, 1990. The pretext for this is that over the years, Mr. Schiavo has given conflicting estimates of the time he found his wife. He's said 4:30 a.m., he's said 5 a.m.

So let's see. It's the sleepy hours before dawn. You find your wife passed out. And you check the clock?

No. You panic, you try to revive her, you call 911. That Mr. Schiavo did so in a timely manner has never been at issue before and, in any event, seems established to a medical certainty. When paramedics arrived at the Schiavo home at 5:52 that morning, they found Mrs. Schiavo in a state of ventricular fibrillation - an irregular heartbeat. You can't live in a state of "v-fib" longer than 15 or 20 minutes.

Nor can it be coincidental that Mr. Bush acted the day after an autopsy report knocked down many of the theories most cherished by those who questioned Mr. Schiavo's stewardship of his wife's medical care.

1. Bushes don't lose
they will bring out THEIR courts and THEIR armies to play out their sick family dramas. No one stands in their way.
The son must be more macho than the father.

4. And brother must show he's as tough as his brother
George brought down Saddam Hussein (and may bring down the US economy not to mention the good will of the rest of the world in the process)

The least Jeb can do is hound Michael Schaivo down and if he can't put the man in jail, at the very least make his life a living hell.

5. Pitts nails it.

What is it with Mr. Bush? Doesn't he have a government to run? Ribbons to cut, backs to slap? Does he need a hobby? Maybe a night job?

You'd think presiding over a state of 17 million citizens would be more than enough to keep a fellow out of the pool halls. But apparently, Mr. Bush has time on his hands.

6. if Jeb is STILL involved with Schiavo case,
then WE will make him look obsessed!! I mean, come on! Jeb taking this family's case and an investigation on himself? I can imagine someone getting all into the details on a case that affects many people, like who was behind a terrorist attack, problems with poverty, jobs, healthcare, education, etc, but for a GOVERNOR (!!!) to get SOOO into what can ammount, at worst, to 1 count of negligent homicide, is simply a stagering waste of time and lack of prioritization by a GOVERNOR of one of the most populous states in the country??

We have to rub his nose in it. "Obsessed, Jeb??" or "Jeb is OBSESSED with 1 count of negligent homicide"

7. Use this to END Jeb's 2008 Ambitions! "Jeb's obsessed!"
OK, if Jeb persists with the Schiavo case, here is the theme that will end any future bid for president:

"Jeb Bush is obsessed with the Schiavo case, which at most can ammount to one case of negligent homicide, while matters like education, healthcare, jobs, and ironically, even CRIME, are simply neglected."

"Jeb is obsessed with one man, while other matters that affect millions are neglected. Hi simply cannot prioritize the people's needs for the state and is unfit to lead."

10. Interesting that he would most likely never start and investigation
if Terri's parents had won and kept her alive. If he was so concerned that a crime was committed where was he for the last 15 years?

11. They're all despicable fascists. And really, really dumb.
The problem with rich kids like JEB! and W is that all their lives, the people around them are paid to tell them how great they are. Sheesh. The scary part for the people of Florida is that W's the SMART one.

12. Now the religious whackos are getting into Michael Schiavo's payroll
records, trying to find out whether his time off from his job at the sheriff's dept. during his wife's demise was at his own expense. It seems that a collection was taken up in the dept. asking employees donate some of their sick time. They're salivating at the thought that some of his time off might have been on the public's dime.

I'd include the URL, but the article at a right wing site has been removed since yesterday.

Terri Schiavo's Estranged Husband May Not Be Charged in 911 Delay

June 27, 2005
Clearwater, FL (LifeNews.com) -- Terri Schiavo's estranged husband likely won't be charged with any crime relating to his failure to promptly call 911 after he allegedly discovered Terri's body crumpled on the floor following a collapse. Florida Governor Jeb Bush has asked a state prosecutor to look into the matter.

Earlier this month, Bush asked State Attorney Bernie McCabe, the prosecutor for Pinellas and Pasco counties, to look into the 911 discrepancy.

(snip)

Still, McCabe said he's looking at Bush's request as an "inquiry" rather than a normal investigation of a crime.

If McCabe finds wrongdoing, Michael Schiavo could escape any criminal charges, because the statute of limitations for any crime other than murder or manslaughter has expired. Also, failing to call 911 is not a crime in Florida and Michael could only be charged with a crime if he was found to have caused Terri's collapse.

(snip)

McCabe told the Herald he would be fast and thorough in his inquiry.

"It's going to be pretty quick, I would guess, unless I come across something,'' he said.
