Someone may have already posted on this--but Robert Novak's latest article makes the assessment that President Bush is, in fact, staggeringly vulnerable. I'm not staggered myself, but, I'm sitting down. I suppose if I had read the news while standing I might have fallen down.
He references President Bush's astonishingly shoddy performance over the last couple of weeks. Not so much his shoddy performance at being President, but his shoddy performance at hiding his lack of competance (although, to be fair, Robert Novak would probably disagree with me on this point).
Anyway he writes, "
. . . failure marks current efforts of the president and his vaunted political team, headed by Karl Rove. This judgment was made to me by a well-known Republican operative experienced in two presidential campaigns: "For the first time, there doesn't seem to be a plan."
