I don't know where this message should actually go, so I'm putting it here. There used to be a self promotion board, but I can't find it now.
Anyway my Weblog is doing a riff on the sorts of people that get picked as Conservative Commentators and the sorts of people that get picked as Liberal Commentators. In order to set this riff up I got kicked off of my Blog (Make me a Commentator!!! (
http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com ) after a Dan Rather like incident involving phoney pictures of a recurring character on my website (the Monster) (relevent posts here -
http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com/archives/2005_06_19_politicalcomment_archive.html#111927400548022806 (see the comments) and here
http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com/archives/2005_06_19_politicalcomment_archive.html#111973213111000834 )
This cleared the way for two new commentators (Cheery Jetson (representing the Liberal point of view (her premiere post -
http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com/archives/2005_06_26_politicalcomment_archive.html#112005900589255897 ) and Grumbly Muffin (representing the Conservative point of view (her premiere post -
http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com/archives/2005_06_26_politicalcomment_archive.html#112006371306253706 ). The point is that Grumbly Muffin is a strong committed Conservative, while Cheery Jetson seems mostly committed to being nice and getting along. So while Grumbly Muffin says more things that get people upset - Cheery Jetson is the one that should really get under your skin.
Think how many conservative voices / commentators you can name. Then ask your conservative friends how many liberal commentators they can name. See how quickly they get to Barbara Streisand. Drives me nuts, and I hope it drives you nuts. You see i don't really have a problem with the Grumbly Muffins of the world getting to express their view (unlike, say, the Ann Coulters). But I do have a problem with the fact that they are never presented with anybody as committed or focused as they are representing the Liberal Side.
Anyway, long story short, taking a bit of a fictional route to say something in a new way. It'll probably go on another week and a half and then we'll either end it or continue it with my voice added back into the mix.
