Mayor Rides Metro To Work
Expect More Security On Metro
WASHINGTON -- With the attacks in London on the minds of many in the Washington area, D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams is urging residents not to panic.
<snip>
Williams took the subway to work Friday to show jittery passengers that he feels safe on the city's transit system. He boarded the train at Foggy Bottom and disembarked at Metro Center.
He thanked transit police who have been out in greater numbers and also urged Congress to increase funding for security on public transportation.

Maybe if congress would also take the Metro, DC could get adequate funding for the necessary additional security. It may not prevent an attack, but it would make public transportation a harder target to discourage an attack.
