After all, Venezuela has as much or even more oil than Iraq...

VHeadline.com guest commentarist Arthur Shaw writes: Chris Herz' editorial: "One might expect to see such negative press in the Miami Herald" neither exaggerates nor dramatizes the anti-Venezuelan sentiment and intent of US imperialism as the US is dragged toward a humiliating defeat in Iraq which seems surprisingly imminent.

An imperial viciousness has taken possession of the US capitalist press, including its liberal outlets, just as Chris Herz says.

More than the pain of its coming military defeat in Iraq, it's the anguish that US imperialism feels over the growing worldwide scramble for oil that drives the bunch of crazed GOPs, who rule the United States, toward new and even dangerous adventures.

Matt Simmons, the highly regarded investment banker for the energy industry worldwide, will publish his book ... either this year or early next ... which will definitively prove that the supply of oil cannot possibly accommodate demand even if demand stabilizes which is most unlikely. The book will relies on data hitherto inaccessible to most students of the issue. The book expands and builds on his extremely disturbing February 2004 peak oil paper read at Georgetown University International Institute for Strategic Studies.

2. I heard part of a segment today on NPR which said that oil cos.
see the hand writing on the wall and are beginning to invest in wind, etc. It also said that most have no interest in the Artic Wildlife Refuge: too little oil and too bad publicity.
