RawStory: Zell Miller pocketed tax dollars for 'entertainment'
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Zell_Miller_pocketed_tax_dollars_for_entertainme_0711.html

In essence, Miller says that he was technically eligible to take the mansion money as his own because no one said he could not. "When I retired from state government, I received only what I was advised was legal, ethical and traditional," his statement read, citing an attorney general's official opinion from 1969.

Never mind that every other living governor from Jimmy Carter to Sonny Perdue told reporter Caldwell that they did not consider the mansion money theirs-and that they would not have taken it. The cash was meant for use at the mansion, not for lining the occupants' pockets, they said.

4. Not really. He was already an *sshole
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 01:22 PM by Julius Civitatus
No need for Bush/Rove to blackmail him into becoming a Repug. He was already an *sshole on his own merits.

2. Well my, my. He said the Dem Party left him! Maybe this is why!
He truned into a greedy money grabbing Pub!!!!!

And don't give me the BS about he didn't know, or "no one told me I couldn't!" escuse. Zell is an attorney and is now working in a major lawfirm in Atlanta!!! Either he's lying, or that lawfirm better reconsider keeping him employed!

And yes, I live in Ga. and I'm very shamed that Zell is too.

19. Zell is an embarrassment and detriment to all Democrats
He was hired by King and Spalding as a lobbyist. He is not an attorney. He was a former teacher.

3. Watch out for Fox News to disown him and blame Democrats
As long as Zellout Miller remains a "Democrat" (even by name only), Fox News will start banging the anti-Democrat drum on him. These people eat their own.

Chris Matthews didn't leave his desk, walk down to the Senator's booth, and kick the living snot out of that old goat when he offered to duel.

15. I love the last part.

In some sense we shouldn't be surprised: the same man who lied about John Kerry has now been proven to essentially be a thief - not exactly shocking. But still, Zell's willingness to rip off his own state is really stunning.
