Anyone wondering why Dan Rather would try and pose phony documents as investigative journalism or Newsweek would try and convince the public that a Quran can be flushed down the toilet need only follow the partisan mainstream media's attack on Karl Rove.
Letters to this paper indicate that they have again succeeded in duping a section of the public.
The facts are slowly emerging. Joseph Wilson's wife, Valerie Plame, is no longer (and hasn't been for years) a super-secret CIA classified agent. In fact, all her friends and neighbors (and some journalists) knew she worked for the CIA. How did they know? She told them, outing herself.
Rove never approached the media about Plame; the media approached Rove and broached the question of why Vice President Dick Cheney could possibly have recommended Wilson.
Wilson had no Secret Service training. He was more likely to be mistaken for a 12-year-old boy who just got his secret decoder ring and magnifying glass out of a Cracker Jack box. The media were flummoxed as to why ferreting out the truth about Saddam Hussein's attempt to purchase uranium from Africa would be left to such a buffoon.
When the dust is settled, Rove will not be charged and the mainstream media will have lost even more of the American people's trust.
