Ashcroft Let Suspected London Bomber Go
http://karenas.typepad.com/my_weblog/2005/07/ashcroft_let_su.html
Before John Ashcroft dashed off this five-page handwritten letter of resignation, declaring the objective of securing the safety of Americans from crime and terror has been achieved, he let suspected London bomber, Haroon Aswat walk away from charges he faced in Seattle for creating a terror camp. Ashcroft wrestled the case away from Seattle prosecutors, saying the DOJ would handle it.
Page six of the letter must have gone missing. You know, the page that says we cannot arrest terrorists, 'cause without them, the Patriot Act will die on the vine.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/text/2002399039_aswat24m.htmlMy take on this when I first read it here at DU a while ago: Looks like we have our double-agent - classic "tag and release". (Didn't think we were still playing these games after 9/11 - no wonder Ashcroft decided it was time to resign. He may have foreseen it happening again, all-too-soon.)
Wonder whether US intel ever bothered to notify MI6 about this guy? Every investigative reporter in London and DC should be looking into this possibility.
This is so much like the '93 WTC case, it makes me sick.
