Schwarzenegger-Clinton parallel
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 05:29 AM by IndianaGreen
Don't get too excited about the latest "revelations" about Arnold Schwarzenegger alleged inappropriate sexual behaviour. This is a typical GOP smear tactic which is now being used by a desperate Gray Davis in the same way that Clinton haters like Lucianne Goldberg smeared President Clinton as "the groper" of Juanita Broaddrick. If there were any credence to these charges, we would have known about them long ago.

Schwarzenegger-Clinton parallel
By Kathleen Parker

On Sunday, a women's peace group that calls itself CodePink, a pink-painted pinkie poke at the Bush administration's color-coded terror alert system, protested outside the California Republican Party's Fall Convention. The protesters brought signs reading ``Groper for Governor'' and ``Sexual Misconduct is not a Family Value.''

These terms have a vaguely familiar ring. But these aren't Republican women clamoring to condemn an aggressive intern handler. These are feminists, those same staunch defenders of women's delicate sensibilities who averted their eyes when Bill Clinton was groping and sexually misconduct-ing in the little room off the Oval Office.

<snip>

Schwarzenegger does have a reputation at least as titillating as Clinton once had, based not on made-up media reports but on the claims of real women from his past. Yet the same crowd that rallied for Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers, Juanita Broaddrick and others can't find anything believable among the women who claim that Schwarzenegger groped them.

The phenomenon of principles selectively applied is nothing new, but women's groups both left and right have surrendered any moral high ground they might have once claimed. They're just one of the boys now. What woman wants, she may alas deserve.

1. It's a nice bit of spin...
... but most of this paper's readers will be able to see through it.

And, I have no doubt that they're going to get a lot of very strong email over the line, "What woman wants, she may alas deserve."

Apart from that, there are more obvious problems with Schwarzenegger. He's somewhat inarticulate, uninformed, wholly without any government experience, and is a prominent right-winger if one considers his previously-held views.

But, one can see the process shaping up. A b-movie actor who can remember his lines, a state in some political turmoil, a candidate of little intellectual power or experience, running on a politically meaningless economics degree. All similar to the times when Ronald Reagan attained the California governorship.

That's why the right wants Ahnold. It doesn't entirely explain why others in the state do.

Cheers.

2. and the difference is....
Let me take a stab: Women want what women want when they want it. Exactly their way.

Clinton had mutual sexual gratification with a woman who
had previously had sex with a married man. This was
consensual sex.

Arnold touches women who haven't agreed to share
their bodies with him.

big difference.
One will get you in trouble with your wife and
the latter will get you jail time if prosecuted.

Arnold's fortunate he hasn't been sued or brought
to court...maybe there have been settlements out
of court...the media hasn't reported that.
