Cindy Sheehan's anti-Isarel rhetoric


Ben Johnson, writing in Front Page Magazine, explores the background, associates and beliefs of Cindy Sheehan, and finds anti-Israel rhetoric. This woman is unsavory.

Sheehan does not just lay the blame for her son’s death on evil America, though. She recently wrote:

my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel. My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel.

Such rhetoric echoes the line being taken by David Duke and his ilk at their most recent recruiting website, NoWarForIsrael.com: neo-cons run foreign policy; neo-cons are Jews; therefore, the war on Iraq was cooked up by a “cabal” of rapacious Jews to benefit the nation of Israel.

Sheehan also applies dehumanizing rhetoric to “neo-con” officials in the Bush administration. In an antiwar speech this April, Sheehan said of a well-known Jewish conservative, “As soft-spoken and sincere-sounding as Paul Wolfowitz is, is there yet any sane adult in this country whose skin does not crawl when this murderous liar opens his mouth and speaks?” She fumed, “Our country has been overtaken by murderous thugs....gangsters who lust after fortunes and power.” It is possible her target is “merely” capitalism. But her vicious rhetoric leaves open the possibility that she makes room at her altar of hatred for Jews, as well.

I wasn't aware that calling Paul Wolfowitz a murderous liar was in any way anti-Israel. It's anti-PNAC and anti-murderous liar, but I don't see it as being anti-Israel in any way, shape or form. Nor is it anti-semitic in any way.

That's quite a reach, even by Front Page standards.

6. This Jew is sick of such attacks on progressives or anyone that

criticizes Israel. I want it made known to the progressive community, if it's not already, that a HUGE % of American Jews are not affiliated with mainstream Jewish organizations or religious movements and do not condone all the views and actions of these groups or all of the policies of the state of Israel! I will withstand accusations of being a "self-hating Jew" and will deal with it. But I will not tolerate others claiming to speak for me and then attacking what I consider to be a movement that is acting to save this nation from the fascists that have taken it over! Critisizing the like of Wolfowitz is fair and informed, NOT anti-semitic. If Ben Johnson and Front Page don't like it, that's just too bad, they can just keep whining and making fools of themselves.

Thanks for letting me rant. It's a hard time to be a liberal Jew, just like it's painful to be a liberal and an American.

No fair discussion of how we got to this war, can ignore Israel's current leadership - Jerrold L. Nadler's views not withstanding.

However, to equate the March to war as an effort 'by Jews' to manipulate foreign policy is wrong, hurtful, counterproductive and dangerous. The Rove's of the world have used everyone (Jews, Christians, Muslims, Gays, Liberals) to sow CONFUSION.

End the confusion - when necessary we need to be careful and precise in our speech - if for no other reason than we refuse to be Roved again.

by Douglas Feith and Larry Franklin for AIPAC and Israel.

Israel did want Saddam gone. What the Neo-cons forgot was that Iran also wanted Saddam dethroned too, and Iran has more in common with the Shiite majority than Israel does.
