Chavez Dismisses Robertson Death Threat, Offers 'Medical Aid' to U.S. Poor!

From Jose Martí airport in Cuba and in comments offered via telephone to Venezuelan State television before departing to Jamaica, President Hugo Chavez dismissed the opinions of American religious leader Pat Robertson, who suggested that the chief executive be murdered. "His opinion of me means nothing, neither does it concern me. I don't even know who this person is," Chavez said.

But he said what did concern him was the level of poverty of certain people in the United States, and he offered aid from his government to help with the well-being and health of the American people.

Chavez said that some citizens of that country could be enrolled in the VISTA medical program of Cuba, and he even spoke of offering a special program of direct gasoline assistance to poor communities.

"The level of poverty in the United States also worries us. We offer not only to cover 6 million people with Vista over the next ten years, but to train over 200,000 doctors over the 10 years. We will put them back into Vista," he said.

Kill their self satisfied, ego maniacal thinking with kindness. Point out just how much America has lost. Let the world know how unethically we treat our poor and downtrodden. Throw it in the face of the administration. Point out that gaping hole in our values and offer assistance to those most vulnerable. Now that he's struck a blow it may be time to pour salt in that wound to wake them up a little more. Tell the world again how *bush will not properly care for the American family.

Man, this guy is brilliant!

Chavez knows what thugs our leaders are.

He's undercutting them by spotlighting the poverty in our country and offering to help. He comes out the winner and he also gets to expose that things are not so rosy in the USA.

This is so strategic. I love it! By outing our poverty problem and offering help--it almost relegates us to third-world status--which is a slam to Bush on the world's stage. We're supposed to be this big and bad almighty superpower, and Chavez is offering to help feed and gas up our citizens' cars.

He's insulting Bush--while winning the hearts and minds of the American people--thus rendering BushCo unable to attack him.

7. Growing up in the Cold War Era...

My knee jerk reaction to Chavez's comments is...BS...a lame attempt at subversion...an attempt to undermine our president who is dropping like a rock in public opinion polls.

Then I remember...it's 2005...Shrub is president...we have a twit heading this corrupt administration who cares not one whit for the less fortunate in this country.

Okay...Where's my Che beret damn it...I know it's here somewhere!
