When the Senate returns from its summer break next month it will consider a constitutional amendment to ban desecrating the flag. It qualifies as desecration of (sort of) federal property and has absolutely nothing to do with speech and might just be really good magic over time. Who the heck knows? The fact that our representatives waste their efforts on flag burning and steroid use is akin to fiddling while Rome is burning.

Election reform, an exit strategy from Iraq, sound environmental policies, alternative energy sources, a crumbling infrastructure, and health care should be their primary concerns.

Guess what, they're not. Who do they think they're working for anyway? Certainly not us, the people.
