Arianna Huffington: It All Goes Back to Casey

From The Huffington Post
Dated Wednesday August 24

It All Goes Back to Casey
By Arianna Huffington

I met Cindy Sheehan on Sunday afternoon while her mother was still in the intensive care unit. Listening to her, I just wanted my teenage daughters to meet her. Because it's never too early to teach young women fearlessness. And despite everything Cindy Sheehan has been through in the last year and a half, including weeks of sliming and smearing and swift-boating by Bush's attack machine, what she exudes, above all, is fearlessness. Fearlessness and authenticity . . . .

Somehow whatever we were talking about, the conversation would always steer back to Casey. Never more chillingly than when Cindy described that night in April 2004 when she and her husband were watching CNN and the news from Iraq came on about a Humvee burning... eight soldiers killed . . . .

So is this version of Islamic theocracy what we are fighting for? Is this the "noble cause" Cindy's son died for?

Cindy Sheehan, in personifying the human cost of the war, has exposed the fault lines in the administration's policies. Her real concern for the troops highlights the president's lack of concern, and her sacrifice makes nonsense of Bush's questioning the patriotism of anybody who disagrees with him. Here is the latest on this:

Meeting briefly with reporters Monday aboard Air Force One, Trent Duffy, a White House spokesman subbing for Scott McClellan, said that President Bush believes that those who want the U.S. to begin to change course in Iraq do not want America to win the overall "war on terror."

1. Fearlessness
That's the difference between the Pretzeldunce and Ms Sheehan.

He is a scared little weenie man-child who swaggers and poses trying to convince everyone he is NOT afraid.

Ms Sheehan, simply and earnestly, is NOT afraid, because she knows the truth is on her side.

2. She Also Has Nothing Left To Lose
the son of a bitch who fathered Casey has walked, the son is dead, what's a mother to do, except try to help her sisters who haven't reached that point yet?

3. Did you read one of the replies? from a seriously stupid freeper...
...."I am very sorry for Cindy's loss, but how can you blame the President? If you support the troops, you support this government (since the troops are the militant branch of our government), then you HAVE to support the President aka Commander in Chief of the Military. Presidents will make wrong decisions (Bay of Pigs (Kennedy), Korea (Truman), and Vietnam (FDR)), but it is so important that we support the government. Furthermore, supporting the President, is supporting democracy, since the President is the outward focal point of democracy (whereas The People (remember we are a part of the government) are the inward focal point). If we all join together, support the President, we will get our troops home quicker."

Unfuckingbelieveable. Although it does sort of make me realize how there can be people that support our ass president... they're so tragically stupid and uninformed that they are incapable of thinking for themselves and can only see things in black and white.. they can't imagine that one could suuport the troops and not support the president.
