Oh sarcasm, how I love thee...
Who the hell does Cindy Sheehan think she is, anyway? The president is on vacation. Sure, he has now been on vacation for more days than any other president in history, recently surpassing Ronald Reagan, and he still has a couple of years left to pad his lead. But does that give this lady the right to go down to Crawford, Texas, and disrupt his brush-clearin', log-choppin' and truck-drivin' activities?
Sheehan was camped out in front of the president's ranch for several weeks, demanding the president give her an answer as to why her son died in Iraq. (Of course, we can tell you that ourselves: He died because freedom's on the march, not for oil or a geopolitical strategy involving a permanent Middle Eastern base and a democratic domino theory.) Now, the Sheehan virus has spread across the country. Last week, more than 1,500 vigils took place nationwide, including one in downtown Fort Lauderdale. With more than 200 people in attendance, it was the largest anti-war protest in the city since at least the Vietnam era, according to several participants. Of course, that's more a sad statement on the activism of Broward County than it is a positive review of this protest. Still, it appears freedom isn't the only thing that's on the march.
