Alan Keyes:"Arnold Schwarzenegger is on the evil side."
Arnold's corruption of Republican Party
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=34940

I have an urgent message in my heart, and I will speak plainly about it, as I feel I must. It concerns Tuesday's recall election in California. First, two unhappy facts must be faced.

On all the matters that touch upon the critical moral issues, Arnold Schwarzenegger is on the evil side. This is a fact. A mere list of the positions he supports is enough to make this plain: abortion as a "right," cloning of human beings, governmental classification of citizens by race, public benefits for sexual partners outside of marriage, disrespect for property rights against environmental extremism, repudiation of the right to bear arms – no more need be said to show that this candidate is wrong where human decency, human rights and human responsibility bear directly on political issues.

A second fact is this: Unnaturally divorced from these issues, conservatism mutates into mere immoral greed, to match the immoral lust of contemporary liberalism.

Accordingly, there is no choice in the California Recall race for people of good conscience except Sen. Tom McClintock.

But many good people – and especially conservatives in California – are in denial. They do not, or will not, see that they have but one choice.

What makes this so hard for some who profess to be conservatives to understand? Apparently, it is fair-seeming, "pragmatic" arguments that we must grasp a victory for "our party," and that it is shrewd for Californians in the present election to choose the "lesser of two evils." Let us consider the wisdom of these arguments.

First, as to our "victory." Last week, we saw Schwarzenegger does not deny habitual crude offenses against young women. Rather, he theatrically, vaguely and impersonally apologizes for them, before a roaring crowd of adoring fans, admitting neither any connection between action and character, nor any need for genuine penance or reformation. Arnold had, he says, no "intention to offend." And he "apologizes" from the stage while his hired guns blame the whole thing on a vast left-wing conspiracy. Cheers. Adulation. Let's move on.

Does this remind you of anything? The Republicans who vote for Schwarzenegger will owe Bill Clinton an apology for having given the nation the impression that they sincerely believed character to be an issue for those claiming high office.

1. maybe AHnold will serve a purpose... bringing about a Republican civil war
the republicans have to choose a side when it comes to AHnold... the moralistic hypocrites on one side and the hypocritical moralists on the other.

4. Arnold's corruption of the Republican Party
I don't beleive we can blame Arnold for the Republican corruption. The corruption was already there. He was handpicked because he has
the capability to win the recall and impliment the Right Wing's agenda. Arnold has certain assets as described below by LaRouche*.

*I know Larouche is a little flaky but he has an interesting point.

6. maybe it will be conservatives that will spoil the election
Perhaps it will be conservatives that will spoil the election. Ahhnold doesn't only have arguments coming from the left...he also has criticisms from the right...maybe this will turn out to be an interesting election.

9. Real world conservatism is immoral greed
but in principle it is about restraint, tradition, personal sacrifice and personal responsibility, liberty and privacy, etc. The pretty picture is rosy, kinda like communism has it's fantasy picture. But when the rubber meets the road it becomes a horrible coalition of enablers promising not to squeal on each other's abuses of the system.

11. It's immoral greed in the ideal world, too
It's just try to hide the greed behind pretty language-- which makes Keyes the perfect spokesperson for it. Humans are social creatures, we only survive when we work together economically. We are not lone hunters, we live off the work of others. Liberals know this, and try to make that work a mutual burden, while allowing each individual the opportunity to enjoy and take advantage of individual differences and talents. If someone is better than someone else at a specific task, that individual is rewarded better for it, but those who are not as strong aren't left to die.

Conservatism believes each person is an island, responsible only for themselves, and therefore work and the benefit of that work don't have to be shared. It's a lie, though. They are parasites, living off the work of others pretending they aren't. No individual thrives in this society without counting on the work of others for food, housing, etc, and the money exchanged isn't enough to justify that collective work. That's why conservatives always blow the economy. They think the economy thrives when everyone is greedy, or in other words, they think that everyone looking after their own self-interest is a strong enough motivation to keep the economy thriving. But it isn't. It takes a collective effort, including supporting those who cannot support themselves, to make the economy operate at full potential. That's why the economy does better under CLintons, and Kennedies, and even Carters, than under Reagans or Bushes.

The Repubs try to couch this greed in terms of personal responsibility and human rights, but even their ideas of rights and responsibilities are inherently selfish, because their world view is. You have the right to do what they allow you to do, but you can't do anything they find distasteful, or that violates some archane rule of behavior that they don't even understand.

Conservatism is ugly in theory and practice, and Keyes is a buffoon with a big vocabulary. Well, that's my opinion, anyway.

10. Now why would the Republicans be "smearing" Arnold on the one hand
while forcing out his strong Repub opponents on the other?

Unless this is some sort of moralistic hypocrites vs. the hypocritical moralists catfight we are watching...
