War of Kerry and Bush Bumper Stickers Year after Election
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 01:39 AM by RamboLiberal

Nearly 10 months after it supposedly ended, the bellicose 2004 election campaign rages on, in the streets. Bumper and window stickers on cars beseech you, even now, to vote for George W. Bush or John Kerry.

People on both sides aren't scratching off their stickers or covering them with new issues or slogans. And laziness doesn't seem to explain it; our bumpers are simply stuck in a moot debate.

The 2004 election is history, but Thomas Street's sentiments aren't. (By James A. Parcell -- The Washington Post)
"Nothing like it before, and I've been doing this 12 years," says Roi Wright, manager of Mr. Wash car wash on 13th Street NW, who sees plenty of cars that are still in campaign mode. "I don't know why. I think it's like a subliminal message, because we all wanted him to win."

Which "him"? Doesn't seem to matter. We wanted him to win, or him. And he did, or didn't. That's done. We're still arguing, though, through the bumpers that time forgot. They're either in a state of heartsick denial or prolonged flaunting.

Right?

In my area - Pittsburgh, the W'04 and Yellow Ribbon Stickers seemed to disappear almost overnight this month. Where I used to see a couple a day, I now see maybe only 1 or 2 a week. And I commute nearly 50 miles a day.

1. I don't see nearly as many Bush stickers as I used to
The other day I thought I saw a Bush sticker and as usual my blood pressure started to rise. Then I looked again and sighed with relief. The bumper sticker said Bush/Satan!

2. Still have my Kerry/Edwards sticker
...proudly displayed on my car. It's essentially my way of telling BushCo and their voter fraud-loving friends to kiss my :kick:. <grin>

13. Funny, I saw one as well, a week or so back
I sometimes forget who Dole's running mate was in '96, it's been so long.

7. Get this
I saw my first Santorum '06 sticker yesterday.

8. my John Kerry sticker is still on
And I drive around in a red county. Few B/C stickers around here, though--only yellow Support the Troops ribbons.

I'm thinking of getting one that says, Kerry Was Right.

9. In Massabluesetts, I see
About 20-25 Kerry/Edwards sticker for every one */Cheney.

More stickers are in/around Boston/Cambridge/Sommerville/Newton than the burbs.

10. A site for sore eyes...
Was seeing a loaded up Volvo parked at my Bush-loving neighbors' house. The neighbors have W stickers on all their cars. This Volvo - I think it's one of their kids - had a nice, blue "John Kerry" sticker prominently displayed.

I couldn't help laughing when I saw that. But then I thought to hope it's not to stressful for the kid to have to hang around their *-loving parents...

12. I live in a so-called "blue" state
Yet I see about 5 Bush/W/Repub stickers for every Kerry/Dem sticker. It makes me want to spew .

14. Here in red-state hell, the Ws are dropping like flies
You do still get a lot of those uber-obnoxious "STILL the Preznit" stickers, though--and those are truly unprecedented.

(When Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton were re-elected, I never saw anyone rubbing that in in such a fashion, but common courtesy has never stood in the way of a Bushiite trying to score a cheap shot, has it?)
