BREAKING: Sec of State Condi Rice caught buying several-thousand-dollar pair of shoes in NYC moments ago, spends last night at Broadway show!
by John in DC - 9/01/2005 01:12:00 PM

Good God.

From Gawker, moments ago:
According to Drudge, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has recently enjoyed a little Broadway entertainment. And Page Six reports that she’s also working on her backhand with Monica Seles. So the Gulf Coast has gone all Mad Max, women are being raped in the Superdome, and Rice is enjoying a brief vacation in New York. We wish we were surprised.

What does surprise us: Just moments ago at the Ferragamo on 5th Avenue, Condoleeza Rice was seen spending several thousands of dollars on some nice, new shoes (we’ve confirmed this, so her new heels will surely get coverage from the WaPo’s Robin Givhan). A fellow shopper, unable to fathom the absurdity of Rice’s timing, went up to the Secretary and reportedly shouted, “How dare you shop for shoes while thousands are dying and homeless!” Never one to have her fashion choices questioned, Rice had security PHYSICALLY REMOVE the woman.

my daughter was stranded in hotel in baja during a hurricane in '01. she was in a luxury hotel but nevertheless spent 3 days sopping wet. she has the empathy for these people that condi will never have.

I think that "irate, indignant, Shopper" would have been on stronger ground had she ....NOT BEEN ALSO SHOPPING IN FERRAGAMOS.

Come on folks, why are we outraged that Condi would shop, even spending thousands of her money; and applaud someone for criticizing Condi, when she was doing the same thing?

It's the blind partisanship that drives me nuts about RW'ers. Let's not follow suit.

15. Well....
Condi is the Secretary of State.

The other shopper was probably just a normal person with $$$ to spare... Or she was just browsing.

I don't think the Secretary of State should be shopping while the country is in crisis. I'd say the same thing if it was a liberal.

and complete lack of class?

She's the SOS. They would've crucified Albright with her friggin' brooches if she did the same.

Rice is criminal scum. Why defend her? Are you being PARTISAN and PLAYING POLITICS here?

12. Thanks for posting this.
I got an e-mail about this and wanted so much for everyone to know what the bitch is doing while people are dying - this is truly a wonderful example of what this misadministration is about.

14. Miss/Alabama Native?
Isn't Ms. Rice from Mississippi or Alabama? Clearly she has turned her back on her people (black and white Southerners). Why isn't she on the phone non-stop contacting world leaders to bring aid to the Gulf Coast. Where's the coalition of the willing? What a foul excuse for a human being! Disgusting. She must be forced to resign!

17. Money to burn
I just don't get it, why would anyone spend that much money on one pair of shoes? I'll wager they weren't made in America by Americans either.
Condi isn't a very careful shopper. I would be embarassed to be caught being so wasteful and frivilous. She must be one of those who compensates for a void in her life by posessing expensive material things.

She is just fueling the image of the Bushies fiddling while New Orleans starves.

21. SCANDALEZZI
Rolling on the floor laughing, still.

My 75 year old mother, who voted for Bush I, but not Bush II, has renamed Condi - SCANDALEZZI

She also says that they should commence building more jails if they intend to remove or detain all of us who dislike the Secretary of Shoes, oh, I mean State.
