Your city, full of people, is next.

Sitting back watching the problems in New Orleans? Isn't your city just as unique? Isn't your city just as complex with it's poor, full of elderly, high density housing full of people with out their own transportation?

Think you don't have to worry about hurricanes? Well there's still tornadoes, floods, fires, and terrorism.

Sit back if you like. Next month it could be your city. That will be you on the television. That will be you sitting for a week in a filthy evacuation center.

Well, maybe there is some thing more you can do. An email, a phone call, a handout on a street corner, a protest, a gentle talk with a neighbor, a sticker on your car, a donation to an activist group, a freeway sign.

Do it now because it's going to be tough to do at the dirty evacuation facility.

2. I think most people are keenly aware of this
and I think that is one of the secondary reasons it is effecting Americans so much. The human suffering is the first, of course, but the realization that that could be you has hit everyone.

That could be me! That could be my child that is starving because the government is so inept! That could be my mother's body shoved over to the side of a wall and left to rot! Goddamn it all to hell! This is fucking America and that could be all of us!

We will never be the same.

3. We here in earthquake country are REALLY SCARED now.
Our disaster will hit without a moment's advance notice.
All of the crap about having a 3-day emergency supply is crazy; I'm thinking 10 days to 2 weeks of survival stuff on hand.
