Mother writes her soldier son getting one meal a day in Iraq

I have a son in the U.S. Army. He is at the present time stationed in Iraq. He left a wife and two small children. He went without complaining and realized that he was helping people who needed help. He went over the end of July. When he arrived, the soldiers were being fed two meals a day.

The last time we heard from him was Sept. 24. He advised us that they were getting only one meal a day. The water supply has been curtailed also. They cannot bathe but once a week. Also he is asking for rolls of toilet paper.

The soldiers are not being taken care of properly. They do not make much money. With a young family, sometimes it does not go far enough.

I received a phone call the other day asking me to contribute money for political reasons, and I found it hard to be nice. I am on a fixed income and it is hard to send money for necessities to my son and then be asked to contribute also. People should be aware of the sacrifices that the military and their families are making.

I really went off ....I feel better about doing that .
Reading the words of these mothers and families compelled
me to let the people stopped in their cars know " 1 meal
a day , 2 liters of clean drinking water in 130 degrees"
I yelled this over and over .

I was a little embarrassed about it , I think I shocked
Terwilliger and arcane1 ...But in the end I know lives depend
on making our voices and concerns heard .

2. When I was in the army, I remember hearing that technically,

one MRE has enough nutrition for a whole day. But it is just like an ordinary meal. When we were training in the field, we got 3 per day, and it was just enough. I can't imagine living under that kind of stress and hardship and one meal per day. I'll bet the prisoners in Guantanamo are treated better than many of our soldiers in Iraq.

Haliburton/Brown and root contracted to feed the troops at a cost of $165.00 a day per troop. For that $165.00 the taxpayer provides it's solders a pkt of dehydrated puke sans water.

Sorry been too long....one of the pundents pointed this out while the troops were stalled, strung out across Iraq and couldn't get food and equiptment. In retrospect it appears they are still in the same condition.

it was refrencing the the U.S. Army Logistics Civil Augmentation Program, or LOGCAP contract with Haliburto/Brown and root makes them the Army's only private supplier of troop support services such as housing, amenities and food over the next decade.
