John Stossel (a "reporter" on 20/20) defends price gougers and their "heroic efforts" during the Katrina disaster (
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JohnStossel/printjs20050907.shtml). You see, if the price gouger hadn't taken it upon theirself to stock-up on water and then take advantage of the desperate survivors, then the survivors wouldn't have received the vitally-needed water. This is especially important considering that the Republican government firmly believes in people (except for the needy rich and the Iraqi people) being self-reliant and coming up with their own solutions to their problems. That's why we should rely on faith-based institutions to help others as part of their mission to serve their beliefs.
Just ignore the fact that every religion directs their followers to help the poor and that the American Constitution states that our federal government was established to promote the general welfare. In John Stossel world, it's greed and self-interest that will save our country from terrorism and future natural disasters. Probably explains why he is back in the cushy 20/20 offices in New York City while real reporters are bravely bringing the story of this tragedy to America. Stossel is not paid enough to do a real news story.
