2. Not Palasts best piece.

While Galloway should be chided for some of his comments and should be more transparent about the charity issue, Palast seems to ignore a very important fact, that George Galloway, because of his outspoken opposition to imperialist policies is the target of a constant barrage of lies and smears from the right.

He is constantly on the defensive, and people who are constantly on the defensive tend to act suspiciously. This is a very common phenomenom on the left, which is constantly victimized by the right.

For all I know Galloway may be a swamp thing, depending on the truth behind the charity accusations, but I dont think the facts we have now support that line.

And its not like Galloway is running for office. As long as the speeches he makes are good factual progressive arguments, we should support his tour regardless of whether or not he has a flawed charecter.

Palast is a good journalist.

I just think in this particular case he is presenting a biased view.

But it is extremely difficult to get an unbiased view of Galloway, which is a result of both his brashness and the rights lies.

The idea that any outspoken anti-imperialist is self interested is rediculous.

Just ask Cristopher Hitchens, someone skilled in rhetoric can make ALOT more money serving power than challenging it.

Galloway has consistantly made choices that have hurt his self interests thoughout his career.

his friends or enemies are. That Saddam was bad. And no amount of hating Bush is going to make a friend of Saddam's an okay pal. That he chooses himself the people he is against.
