Moyers: When big media gets bigger
Bill Moyers: "The effort to reverse the FCC is dead in the water, sinking the democratic process with it."

Oct. 10, 2003 | Big Media companies keep getting bigger -- with more and more power over our lives. This week's deal between General Electric (GE) and Vivendi means that GE'S NBC, which helped elect Arnold Schwarzenegger governor of California, has just picked up not only Universal Studios, but the USA**, Trio and Sci-fi cable channels to go with CNBC and MSNBC, all part now of a $43 billion empire.

** USA ran the movie "Total Recall" almost everyday throughout the month of September.

1. Nothing like free publicity. Didn't know about USA and Total Recall.

The Phillip K. Dick short story on which the movie was based was light years better. Of course it was literate which is something you cannot accuse the Gropinator of being.

Moyers covered this topic extensively on Now, both the media's fawning over Ahnald, specifically how his pals in the media, most specifically at NBC and Oprah went all out to elect him and the herculean efforts of the media lobbyists
to block, for now, any vote in the House on killing the FCC regulations. Thank the Exterminator of Democracy Tom "Roachbrain" DeLay for saying F-U to the millions of Americans from all sides of the political spectrum who united to block Powell's whoring of the FCC to big media. I say it is time for intrepid House members to start a petition to force a floor vote, DeLay be damned.

So many channels...all saying the same thing.

Lovely.

Just the Soviets and Nazis before us. Oh, what Juilius Streicher could have done with the Internet, eh?

Actually, I think we are getting a taset of what Julius Streicher would have done with the Internet by the Busheviks.
