My LTTE Sent To "Winchester Star"
I wrote this to the Winchester Star. Do not expect to have it printed but feels good to have my say. (I used pieces of postings from DU to help me frame the letter and ideas. I thank "txaslftist" for his posting of September 21.)

LTTE follows:

True Colors? What are the colors of the "Winchester Star"?

Cindy Sheehan has stood up to power. Numerous and varied people freely choose to stand with her. Where is the "Winchester Star"?

The "Winchester Star" tries desperately to place the message of accountability to the margins by dismissing the messengers. Using guilt by association the "Winchester Star" has decided to attack and to smear Cindy Sheehan.

Government lied, people died and the media cheered. Washington D.C. over the past years, has become a blatant cesspool of greed, graft and grief. One only has to read your paper to see this. Why does "Winchester Star" ignore the lies the president tells yet smears Cindy Sheehan, parsing every statement she makes?

The "Winchester Star unfailingly supports the people in power, apologizes for them and attacks the people who criticize them. It is not a watchdog for the people, it is a propaganda outlet. Praising and blindly backing a government whose members actively participated in supporting Saddam Hussien and Osama Bin Laden exposes the "Winchester Star" as a newspaper for corruption and cronyism. Either the "Winchester Star" became unhinged somewhere along the path to propagandist or the "Winchester Star" was a two bit apologist/media whore all along.

Is it time for the "Winchester Star" to be reminded of its role? A media that criticizes the people in power is a watchdog for the people. This is the reason for a free press.
