With the arrest of John Ellis "Jeb" Bush Jr. two weeks ago in Austin, Texas, on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest, Gov. Jeb Bush now has a perfect three-for-three record for criminal progeny. A decade ago, his eldest son, George P. Bush, broke into an ex-girlfriend's house, fled and then returned 20 minutes later in an SUV and did doughnuts on her lawn (points for style); he avoided arrest only because the girl's family refused to press charges. In 2002, daughter Noelle Bush was arrested for attempting to buy Xanax with a fraudulent prescription. While she was in rehabilitation, an employee of the rehab center discovered a crack rock in Noelle's shoe (minus points for idiocy).
So how can Jeb Sr. maintain any credibility as a member of the party representing traditional family values? The governor answered that himself last week: His allies include Chang, an invisible, golden-sword-wielding, ancient conservative warrior.
