http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/jamieson/143641_robert13.htmlKerry took his last breaths in a place called Iskandariyah. A homemade bomb hit the convoy. Was Kerry scared about his mission? Of course. Was he brave? No question. Was he a hero? That goes without saying, but I'll say it, anyway. But another more difficult question must be asked:
Is the cause for which Kerry and hundreds of other men and women have died worth it any more? Was it ever?
Saddam Hussein is nowhere in sight, his evil sons have been erased and a despotic regime has, for the most part, been vanquished. But the weapons of mass destruction haven't turned up.
We said we were only going to be liberators. Yet we've turned into occupiers in the name of peace. Iraqi Shiites, who very much despised Saddam, are threatening to unleash their anger on U.S.-backed forces unless they leave.
