1. I saw Aaron McGruder on tv once at some kind of award
show(I forget) but he called "condaleezavaldez" "darth vader"!

And I'm glad he has a giant showcase with his "boondocks" strip to tell the World what he thinks of her.

2. Condi is unattached?
How can this be? She is beautiful and smart. So she lies a lot. Big deal. Lovers always lie. Is it true, there is no Mr. Condoleeza Rice?

3. I'm not sure she likes men....
I mean I have no information to say that, but she strikes me as a strong cadidate for closeted lesbian.

6. I was all set to be outraged.....
by some sexist editorial. But this cartoon is well=done and does not strike me as sexist at all.

To answer some of the questions on the thread thus far, it is my understanding that Condi has no personal life whatsoever. She plays piano and that is about it. I don't know whether she is gay or not, but I suspect she is more anti-relationship than anti-man. I don't see her as a warm and loving person no matter what her sexuality.

7. That's even better!
How great is that? You could have a very attractive woman, stimulating conversation, a little romantic piano music... If she could just dump the republicans!

Yes, it's all in the execution.

I love the Boondocks, though this one does remind me a bit of a story in the Onion a few years ago: "Nation Trying to Fix Ralph Nader Up With Date."

10. as much as I like the Boondocks...
this is not a good way to criticize Condi. Leave it to the republicans to bring her gender and marital status into it. Neither of those is her problem, her problem is her actions in office.

13. The Washington Post isn't publishing "Boondocks" this week
Every morning I read Bondocks and several others on the Post online. Today there was a notice that they won't publish the strip until the 19th. The premise must have offended someone there.

16. that's odd
Today's strip actually points out that this is a sexist way to think.

I don't see what the problem is.

14. I agree, Cocoa. Also, I think Skittles pointed out
on another thread that no one ever suggests that a male policymaker needs a woman so he won't blow up the world.

11. lots of concern about condi's performance...spectacular failures
Edited on Tue Oct-14-03 04:50 PM by amen1234

"the very need to restate her formal duties in an interagency memo confirms that she has failed to perform the most basic functions of a national security adviser."

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/10/10/opinion/main577489.shtml

at the very same time, promotions to higher levels of responsibility

"Rice to Lead Effort To Speed Iraqi Aid
President Bush announced yesterday that the White House will take a stronger role in overseeing the struggling effort to rebuild Iraq through a new group intended to speed the flow of money and staff to Baghdad and streamline decision-making in Washington."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A53560-2003Oct6.html

at the very same time, much concern about condi's overly close relationship with her boss (bush*)

Bush is personally close to Rice. She spends countless hours at his side -- in the White House, at Camp David and on his ranch in Crawford, Tex. -- forging a bond that has transcended the statutory position of national security adviser.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A53560-2003Oct6.html

...and bush*'s nasty letter calling Laura a "lump in the bed" (bush*'s thoughts, with condi at his side, and his 'lump-in-the-bed' wife in Paris)....there is a BIG concern, because these types of office relationships are very detrimental to the functioning of the organization and in this case, the organization is the USA....

Q: How do you know when (Rice, Cheney, etc.) is lying?
A: Is her/his mouth moving?
