Come on, Democratic Party, "Stand With The People" by Ralph Nader
snip....
I can hear some Democrats now saying, "I have said this," or, "the Party passed a resolution on that." That doesn't pass muster. Has the Democratic Party as a force in politics launched a serious drive against commercial crimes focused on minorities in the urban ghettos? These are the daily commercial crimes against tenants, consumers and patients.

Has the Democratic Party aggressively challenged as a party the notorious Patriot Act and its further abuse by the Bush regime? To the contrary, the Bush people in Congress are making most of the worst provisions permanent and adding a few more erosions of liberty.

Lastly, the Democratic Party is clueless when it comes to a Party's responsibility to continually strengthen the power of the people to direct and hold their government accountable through clean elections and facilities that enhance banding together as workers, consumers and taxpayers.

Come on, Democratic Party, "Stand With The People." Corporatist Democrats cannot defeat corporatist Republicans.

1. Eat shit, Ralph, and die! You're part of the reason we have Bush
in the White House. You are a sack of human shit. I threw your book away after 2000. Go away and piss off!

6. Yep.
Seems to bring out a lot of ad hominem attacks on Ralphie, not much in the way of refutation for his argument.

13. He lists it pretty well. (When did DU become so "with us or against us"?)
Man! I mean, you can be against what he did but he DID have a point -- we ARE pretty much stuck with two corporate parties here! And Dems HAVE rolled over on plenty of legislation this year. When did we become as closed minded to any suggestions as the Republicans are? This is really troubling to me - such reactive hatred without consideration of the content at all. (sigh....)

sinp...
Why not cast aside this slogan and replace it with a program that signifies that the Democrats "Stand With The People"? Stand with them for full Medicare for all. Stand with them for quality public services from schools to public transit to environmental protection to libraries.

Stand with them for an end to diverting their taxes into huge programs that subsidize, bailout and give away peoples' assets to large corporations.

Stand with them for consumer protection from rip-offs, from shredding traditional consumer rights to take companies who cheat or hurt them to courts, from taking the government cops off the corporate crime, fraud and abuse beats.

Stand with them and their rights vis-à-vis large corporations like Wal-Mart that exploit them and block their right to organize and fight back.

Stand with them in their desire to nurture their children's childhoods in decent, affordable housing, safe neighborhoods and good schools and clinics.

Stand with them with a people's budget directed to necessities of the American people receiving the benefits of tax dollars under a fair system of taxation.

16. I am addressing the specific charge of ad-hominem
and getting ad-hominem atacks in return. Think about it.

If the complaint is that Ralph's position should be given a fair hearing, then let's have it.

The burden of presentation is on those that claim Ralph has a good point.

What is it?

17. Nader is one of the subjects that causes DU flame wars.
We have had serious admin interventions at times because things would get so out of hand. I don't care for him much myself, but sometimes I agree with what he has to say.

12. While he is correct about that,
he certainly was not correct in running for pres in 2000. He lost a lot of credibility then and in 2004. We pretty much can thank him for handing us this nightmare in the first place.

4. Nader should STFU. I am soo sick of this man.
He has contributed NOTHING to our society for eons and keeps trying to stir the pot and create friction. He is the one that is the tool of HIS corporate masters. Mr. Purity has caused untold damge with his sick sense of justice. He thought to teach the Dem Party a "lesson" and brought us to the point of disaster. I hope he rots in a very warm place soon!

15. Ralph Nader is a CONSUMER, not a saint. He knows nothing of the people.
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 08:11 PM by NNadir
Does anyone here know what CONSUMER means. It means someone who puts material consumption above ethics.

Nader is a rich brat shill for the Repukes, little more than a CNN propagandist.

Ask Tim Shorrock about Nader. Ralph FIRED Shorrock - who was trying to organize a union in Nader's fraudulent newspaper - Multinational Monitor - using CORPORATE law to ILLEGALLY resist UNIONIZATION in his SWEAT SHOP where he demanded 80 hours of work for 40 hours of MINIMUM WAGE PAY while becoming a MILLIONAIRE himself.

He is a LIAR. He is a FRAUD. Oh yeah, and an embezzler. Try to find out if the PIRGS which forced contributions from college students irrespective of their financial standing (and I was one of them) was ever audited.

Tim Shorrock emailed me once to express his disgust that anyone would take this CHEAT seriously on the left.

Nader is a Repuke. Of course he hates the Democrats. This is why during a Repuke war he spends his time on important issues like NBA officiating and Terrell Owens.

23. fuck off Ralph. Get with a whole program that includes economic policy
and then - please don't run again. Last time you were funded by neocons. The time before that you lost the election for Gore. You say the Dems are no different that the Repukes. You lie.

It matters a great deal WHO wins the election.

24. Ralph has been preaching the evils of corporate media and
he lead the first recount of the 2004 elections.

He preached the evils on corporate america's influence on democracy. Yup... he cost us an election...because people believed what he said was right and voted for him.

Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 10:40 PM by depakid
Truer words have never been spoken.

Yet even after losing 6 ELECTIONS IN A Row- people still insist on attacking the messenger. That's just insane.

I have news- the Democratic "leadership" bears a good deal of responsibility for what's happened to this country- largely by voting for - or legitimizing far right policies, when they should be decrying them at every opportunity.

The sooner they come clean- the sooner they start showing some political courage and fortitude as a group and standing up for traditional Democratic principles again- the sooner they'll regain some relevance in national politics.

As it is- they're poised once again to allow their DINO's to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory in 2006. And if they do- they'll deserve it.

30. Ralph is a superman!
Didn't you hear?
Ralph singlehandedly knocked the wheels off the entire Democratic Party in 2000 and won the election for bush*!

WOW! That guy is STRONG.

Is Ralph's message THAT STRONG, or is the Democratic Party THAT weak?

Nobody should vote for Ralph.
Everybody SHOULD listen to what he has to say!

31. Does Ralph Nader do anything besides criticize and whine?
Has he tried to bring about change as he bitches and moans?

Do his rants have the effect of rallying people around the party?

Seems to me he's been trying to tear down the Dems for a long time now, and I'd rather he just shut the fuck up.
